Project Description
The conflict with Religious freedom is that any religion should be able to be practiced without limitations from the government or criticism from other groups. Today practicing religion freely in many places still could get you put in jail. Freedom to your own beliefs can get you killed as well. It is important to recognize that freedom to your own beliefs as a human being are important and should be freely exercised. Since forever religious freedom is rooted in american history as cause of conflict. The freedom of expressing your own beliefs has always been blocked by conflicts between different belief systems and has lead to many bigger conflicts. Even though the right to exercise your own beliefs and religion is protected by the first amendment of freedom of speech and religion, religious freedom is still a huge issue. How I connected the thinking skill , perspective, to my project was by having a balance between context and perspective. The context is what helped build the perspective of my project in which the purpose of my ideas became clear.
English
I created a website linking both context and perspective to my work. I created two overviews on opposite religions that in various ways share mutual connections. I described the idea of religious freedom that I have gathered during the research process of my topic. I formatted the layout of my creation as simple as possible. In my website you will find a page dedicated to the understanding of christian life. In that page I cover the idea of christian life and the day to day structure of a christian. While doing so I also created a page dedicated to understanding the buddhism way of life. I covered the way of life of a buddhist and the definition of buddhism. As for my perspective piece I created a letter to a buddhist from a christian, highlighting similarities and differences.
Social studies
To highlight perspective in my social studies portion of my project I created two sides of an argument. As well as balancing out context and perspective. With each side I created an overview and applied insight on each side. Each side had its reasoning behind the claim and the context to back up each claim appropriately. In my brochure There are two perspectives to one argument and various ways to perceive either side.
I created a timeline of court supreme cases that explains how each case goes against the violations created to prevent religious conflict. In the timeline I include dates and write the explanation of each case. This timeline connects with my brochure portion of the project because it highlights issues relating to religious discrimination and unfairness. These issues being present at the work place, in public and in organizations.
