Project description
My project is about how culture has an influence of gender inequality. As society knows, there are many different cultures with different beliefs, roots, standards and norms. Cultures are rooted from what their own norms are including what is acceptable and what isn’t acceptable in the circle of their own culture. To create a bigger picture, culture influences countries the way in which laws are created according to the standard beliefs. For example , in modern society in places where more tight ,conservative cultures exist, women aren’t able to go out and gain their own line of income. In different cultures it is expected for a man to be the only source of income which is what is described as men are “the head of the house”. In many places for as long as time goes back, women have always been viewed as the less capable . In my experience in schools the teachers always asked for three or two strong young boys to move desks from point A to point B. For some reason the world has created this separation between men and women that is heavily influenced by cultures that expect women to be at the side of a man by the time they become twenty. In America the the influence of culture on american society down to the political views driven by culture have loosened. This is due to the variety of cultures that exists in the country that have opened our minds to different people coming from backgrounds foreign to what we know.
History
For History I wanted to focus on how political decisions and the way the government is ran is heavily influenced by culture.Culture heavily influences are political beliefs in which end up either supporting gender equality or going against it. I pieced together the ideas in which relate to the evolvement in which culture exist in american society and political parties in the US. The idea of this project is to highlight the existence of cultural influence in the political aspect in which can result in bias. Depending on what country you are from, different rules and laws are laid out depending on the belief system and the belief of the people. My idea was to create a quiz based on the differences of conservative and loose cultures tying into how that affects the acception of foreign ideas being introduced.
English
For English I focused on the idea of gender roles and culture. Different cultures have different gender reality “norms” meaning that a women going out and getting a job might not be the same as in other cultures. I explored the gender role norms of different cultures and ultimately resulting in a combined idea the brings out the best in each of the cultures standards. My ideas I chose to combine in a podcast that can showcase the string of ideas that I pieced together.
