PROJECT DESCRIPTION
For my second project our focus was perspective and to capture perspective in each one of our projects. The topic I chose for this project was Black Lives Matter. It was definitely a hard topic to pursue especially since now in days its a very controversial topic. Even though it was a risky topic to do I was going to focus on multiple perspectives of BLM not my own even though I have a strong opinion about it myself. When doing this project I researched Black Power, Black lives matter and its founders views on it. Mainly their reason for starting BLM back in 2013 and the Black panther party similar to BLM today.
BLM founders views
For my English portion I focused on how the BLM founders viewed the movement and what they see in it. I had to focus on perspective so I took quotes and wrote short descriptions of an interview they had. The quotes were their different answers to the question why is Black lives matter important for the U.S and for the world. They all answered differently to that with their own reasons and opinions. My inspiration for this was an idea called post secrets but instead of messages I wrote quotes.

BLM through the eyes of business owners
For my art portion there was many ways I could've went about it. There were many different perspectives I could've shown in this piece but I went for the one I believe is the most common . When people think Black lives matter they think riots. To narrow it down I focused it on business owners. Riots usually end with people losing their businesses even the ones who support BLM. So in this painting I wanted to give off the message that BLM is movement that people have turned into a very violent thing that has ended in even innocent people suffering the consequences. But what I've learned from this is what is the right way to rebel if people only respond when things like riots occur. There is no right way to rebel so in a way riots and violence in this case is getting the attention.
